Rev.
Arthur C. Banks was born in Altair, Texas and grew up in
Garwood, Texas. He has been a gospel preacher for thirty-six years.
He is married to Jacqueline F. Banks (Aubrey) who has been a source of
strength and encouragement for over forty years. They are the parents
of four children: one son, Minister Karl A. (Leilani) Banks; and three
daughters, Kristy N. (Philan) Jordan, Karmen Y. (Vidal) Hill, and
Kaylene (Fabian) Brooks; three grandsons, Caleb G. Hill, Genisis
Jordan and Kristian Banks; and seven granddaughters, Kelaiah Banks,
Harmony Jordan, Nadia
Hill, Kamryn Banks, Naomi Hill, Ryann Brooks and Rashelle Brooks.
Pastor Banks graduated in 1970 from Garwood
High School. He
attended Wharton County Junior College where he majored in computer
science and also holds the following degrees: Associate in Technology
(AT in Business), Ft. Steilacoom Community College; Associate in
Applied Science (AAS) Community College of Air Force; Bachelor of
Science in Occupational Education (BSE), Southern Illinois University,
Carbondale; Master of Arts in Christianity, Faith Seminary; and earned
his Doctor of Ministry at Faith Seminary in 1998.
Dr. Banks pastored Calvary Baptist of
Duluth, Minnesota from
1979 until 1981. He has been the pastor of Eastside Baptist Church of
Tacoma, Washington since 1987. Pastor Banks has held many
offices in
the Ebenezer Baptist District Association (EBDA) and the North Pacific
Baptist Convention (NPBC). Dr. Banks is the past President and Vice
President of the NPBC. He has served as THE African American Liaison
for the American Baptist Churches of the Northwest as well as a
religious columnist for the Tacoma News Tribune for 5 years. Pastor
Banks served as past President of the Congress of the North Pacific
Baptist
Convention two tenures. Currently, he is serving as Vice Chairman of
the Board of Commissioners for the City of Tacoma Housing Authority and
was past chairman, and current member, of the Board of Directors for
the William Factory Small Business Incubator which provides technical
assistance to small businesses. Dr. Banks served as President of the Tacoma Ministerial Alliance (TMA) and currently
holds the office of President of the Congress of Christian Education for the NPBC and is the EBDA Vice Moderator.
